Pameela
.T.Sherpa belongs to Darjeeling .She got her formal training under
Mr. Phuntshok in Darjeeling itself starting from 1998 November
for a period of 8 months.
She started her professional Thanka
(Traditional Tibetan) painting from July 1999 and since then she
has never looked back.She has painted many Thankas, the first
one being that of Green Tara ( Alone ) using local fabrics which
she sold for Rs. 1,500 /- ( Indian Rupees ) equivalent to US$
35 approx.

Thanka
of Chenrezig (alone), sold to an Australian client.

Thanka
of White Tara(alone), sold to a German client.

Thanka
of Guru Rimponche (with 60 Gods & Goddesses), sold
to a local curio shop.

Thanka
of White Tara (with 5 Gods).

Thanka
of Sangay (Lord Buddha) with 10 gods & goddesses.
-
Thanka
of Green Tara ( in her 21 forms).

How
does she prepare a Thanka
(Traditional Tibetan ) Painting
-
Takes
a propylene cloth.
-
Stitches
the cloth at four corners to a bamboo.
-
Stretches
the bamboo to a wooden frame.
-
Whitepaints
both sides of the cloth.
-
Rubs the
cloth's surface with a sea-shell till the cloth is smooth
and fine.
-
Graphs
the image in naked form with a pencil and then the cloth
of the image is applied.
-
Outlines
the graph with black paint.
-
Starts
paiting the image.The eyes of the image is painted at
the end.

paint for the actual painting.
