Tenzing
Norgay started his mountaineering career in 1935 with Eric Shipton
reconnaissance party to Mt. Everest and culminated it with the first
ascent of Mt. Everest on 29th May 1953.

Tenzing had been Director
of Field Training from June 1954 to May 1976. He was appointed Adviser
in May 1976 and was the guiding spirit to the institute till his
death in May 1986.

He is the first person in
the world to climb Mt. Everest twice.Joined the American
Everest Expedition as a member which attempted to climb the world's
highest mountain from North Side (China). Climbed Mt. Mackinley
in United States during 1984. Served as Hony. Instructor in the
Climbing School at Mt. Rainier, U.S.A. on numerous occasions. He
